Winter Twigs
Straub Environmental
Learning Center
This course is designed
for those individuals who would like to hone their
skills at tree and shrub identification without the aid
of their summertime leaves. What better way to embrace
the wet Oregon weather than to spend time with the flora
getting to know them in their winter states! This class
will cover the techniques used to identify species that
lack their leaves during the winter months while leaving
participants with the tools needed to continue there
wilderness sleuthing on their own! Taught by our very
own Michael Taylor and Rachel Walker. Class is $5, and
RSVP required. Please RSVP to
fselc@fselc.org or call (503)391-4145.

Lecture
Series:
Harriet Fasenfest, Home
Economics & Householding in the Modern World
Loucks Auditorium, Salem
Public Library
Though Home
Economics used to be a standard course of study for many of us,
times have changed. Very few schools offer course work on the
subject, much to the detriment of our students and civil society.
But what would such a body of knowledge cover today and how would we
make it relevant given today's environmental and economic climate?
Join Harriet Fasenfest as she offers a new framing of this old
discipline. Home Economics - it ain't for matrons anymore. Lecture Series
is free and open to the public. No RSVP required. Click
here for an article on
Fasenfest's work.
